Discovery Process

  • Documental investigation in two non public reports from international agencies.
  • Field research (mistery shopper) in 5 locations within Guadalajara or Mexico City (Other cities can be done at an extra).
  • 2 in dept interviews with industry experts.
  • Benchmark with the top players in the industry (2 to 5 of them) and results analysis.
  • Definition of the optimal business model to operate in Mexico (commercialize, operate, shelter, etc).
  • Definition of the commercial assumptions.
  • Definition of the import process to Mexico and validation of all the steps and its cost.
  • Identification of the necessary norms to comercialize the product in Mexico.
  • Research of cost assumptions for the execution of the project.
  • Financial evaluation of the project based on all research done.
  • Value proposition definition for the mexican market.
  • Identification of key partners for the defined business model (suppliers or distributors).
  • Research for the identification of 3 to 5 customers, distributors or suppliers with high potential.
  • Contact and follow up via email and videoconference during 1 month with 3 to 5 customers, suppliers or distributors.

  • Management of the hiring and on boarding of lawyers for the required processes and documentation.
  • Follow up on the satatus of each of the legal processes.
  • Management and follow up of the required documentation for the incorporation of one legal entity, the registration of one brand and the creation of two contracts.

Finance your expansion efforts with subsidies.

  • Basic Business Eligibility (<500 FTE, $ 100K- $ 100M Income).
  • Choice of 7 categories of activity in up to 5 international markets.
  • Project value of $ 20K* – $ 100K.

*Submitting a project <20K is only allowed when a project is limited to participation on a trade mission organized by the GAC for underrepresented groups in international trade.

Financing amounts

  • Cost share up to 75:25 with stacking limit
  • $15K- $ 75K per project ($99,999 per year; $200K for related companies)
  • Limit of $50 thousand in consultant fees

CanExport SME is a Cost Sharing Program to help small and medium-sized companies registered in Canada to diversify their exports to new markets.
